What's in my piggy bank for February?

If my January picks were pretty much "essentials," then I think it's safe to say that this month's picks are essentials with a twist. A lot of these items are basic every day staples, but a fun print or shiny metallic or an added embellishment or unique shape seem to make all the difference to spice up your fashion routine.

1. Forever 21 Modern Lines Woven Top, $17.80.
2. Peter Pilotto® for Target® Sunglasses in Red Iris Print, $16.99 (in stores only).
3. H&M Wide pants in dark blue, $34.95.
4. Small Lovely Heart Print Design Scarf, $6.55.

7. Necessary Clothing Screw You Cuff in Gold, $13.99.

What's in my piggy bank for January?

For some reason when it comes to looking at fashionable purchases at the beginning of the new year, I seem to gravitate toward simple, basic items in (go figure) basic colors. I guess I just want to get a couple of staples to get 2014 started off right. The rest of the more "fun" pieces can come into play later on in the upcoming months.

1. H&M Viscose Blouse, $17.95.
2. Urban Outfitters Bold Initial Stud Earring, $4.99.
3. Necessary Clothing Leather Snap Back, $21.99.

What's in my piggy bank for December?

Well obviously my obsession with faux fur coats and animal prints continue. I also think this month's piggy bank picks are just a tad random, don't you? But I guess that's ok. I suppose I don't always have to have pieces that make sense together.

Basically these are just some things that have been on my "list" for a while and the others are just super cute pieces I've seen around the internet lately. Here's hoping you'll find some inspiration in these picks as another year comes to an end.

1. Dorothy Perkins Blush Zebra Fluff Jumper, $49.00
2. Minnetonka Womens Thunderbird Soft Sole Moccasin, $35.95
3. Yellow Hammer Creative Heart of Dixie Pullover, $25.00

6. Necessary Clothing Becker Leopard Belt, $4.99

What's in my piggy bank for November?

I feel like I really went outside my "norm" with my November picks. Not only would I typically pick more snuggly and cozy items for this month, I also have chosen a couple of pieces that aren't typically what I would consider my "style." (Maybe I even channeled Gwen Stefani?!)

Also, I think everything looks like it could almost be one outfit. But what can I say? I saw these super affordable (and cute!) plaid pants from Joe Fresh and they called to me for some reason. Then everything kind of followed from there. But I can definitely see how you could remix each piece several times throughout the winter, and possibly even into other seasons.

So while these picks are definitely more of a step out of my style comfort zone, I still think they are a step in the right direction.

1. Joe Fresh Skull Sweater, $39.00
2. Charlotte Russe Coiled Snake Rhinestone Ring, $6.00
4. Joe Fresh Tartan Pant, $49.00
5. H&M Faux Fur Jacket, $59.95
6. Urban Outfitters Eva Embellished Head Wrap, $14.00
7. Corcra Handmade Red Fingerless Gloves, $20.72
8. Necessary Clothing Cupid Arrow Pump, $39.99
9. Charlotte Russe Color Block Single Sole Heel, $32.50
10. Free People Dahlia Crossbody Bag, $38.00

What's in my piggy bank for October?

I think October is my favorite month of the year. It's the time of year when football season is in full swing and the weather actually starts to turn—along with the leaves.

October says put away your shorts and tanks and pull out the boots, scarves and comfy sweaters. So I'm listening to Mother Nature and looking at several basics to get the fall season started off right, with a couple of flashy fun items to throw in the mix as well.

1. Old Navy Women's Long Sleeve Shirt Dress, $19.00.
2. Forever 21 Forever Cool Fauz Leather Jacket, $15.00.
3. Styles for Less Rib Knit Slouch Beanie in black, $6.99.
4. American Apparel Neon Nail Polish, $6.00.
5. H&M Studded Skirt, $34.95.
6. American Eagle Women's Filly Crossbody, $19.99.
7. Mossimo Twisted Neck Snood Scarf in Ivory, $19.99.

10. Charlotte Russe Studded Knee-High Buckle Boot, $42.50.

What's in my piggy bank for September?

Even though I live in the south and I should know better, I really feel like fall is just around the corner. I'm sure we still have another month or two before there is a chill in the air down here, but that's not stopping me from picking some great items to get ready for autumn weather.

1. Forever 21 Southwestern Shawl Cardigan in Navy and Wine, $29.80.
2. Mossimo Supply Co. Floppy Leather Tie Hat in Tan, $16.99.
3. ModCloth Girl’s Fest Friend Skirt, $57.99.

What's in my piggy bank for August?

I'm not sure what's going on, but all of a sudden I seem to have a void of color in this month's piggy bank picks. At least in the clothing department anyhow. I guess I figure I'll make up for it with any and all burgundy cosmetic options.

1. Joe Fresh Stripe Dress, $39.00. I really need there to be a Joe Fresh in closer proximity to Birmingham. Sigh. Anyhow, I'm still loving stripes and this is definitely a flattering option for wearing this trend.

2. Charlotte Russe Oversized Metallic Boyfriend Watch in Rose Gold, $15.99. I never wear a watch, but I've found myself having a slight crush on bigger ones in a pink/gold hue like this one. I think this could make a pretty frequent appearance on the blog.

3. NYC Cosmetics City Duet 2-in-1 lipcolor in the Penthouse Plums, $2.70. Really hoping I can pull off burgundy lips this fall. This looks like a great shade and at this price, it's worth a shot!

4. Zara Check-Print Blouse, $49.90. I'm kind of obsessed with plaid shirts. And this one looks like it has the perfect amount of flowy-ness to it.

5. Forever 21 Art Deco Necklace, $5.80. Pendant necklaces are everywhere right now. I'm loving this option from Forever 21. It's like a piece of mid-century art hanging around your neck.

6. Urban Outfitters Floral Patchwork Headwrap, $14.00. Another thing that's huge at the moment? Headband-type turbans. I love the print and color palette on this one. It's the perfect piece to help you transition from summer to fall.

7. Essie Nail Polish in “Ups”, $5.95. Again, I can't think of a better shade for your nails in August than this deep burgundy from Essie.

8. Forever 21 Professional Envelope Satchel, $27.80. I love the structured look of this bag and the color is perfect for year-round wear.

9. Charlotte Russe Metallic Trim Pointy Toe Pump in White, $32.50. I've never been one to follow the rules about no white after Labor Day. Good thing too, because I am diggin these white pumps—especially to wear with skinny or boyfriend jeans.

10. H&M Super Skinny Super Low Jeans in gray, $19.95. How fab are these jeans? I see such versatility in them, but mostly I want to wear them with edgy pieces.

What's in my piggy bank for July?

The name of this month's fashion drooling game seems to be prints and edginess. I am loving anything a little bit rock and roll and a little bit...well, printed, obviously.

1. Forever 21 Rooster Print Dress, $19.80. First it's red—a color I am loving right now. And second, this dress has a great 1940s vibe to it. And finally, it has a rooster print. Yes! A rooster print! I die, as Rachel Zoe would say.

 2. Obey Felon Nubby Grey Muscle Tee, $30. This tough girl muscle tee is incredibly versatile. I could sweeten it up with a flirty skirt or keep it hangin tough (yep, NKOTB reference!) with skinny jeans, high heels and edgy accesories.

 3. Charlotte Russe Tribal Print Challis Short, $14.99. Yep, I still love aztec print. I will wear it on anything. Surprised? I hope not.

 4. Chameleon Neon Yellow Hexagon Clutch Purse, $37.50. I've been eyeing neon yellow clutches for a while and this is one of the coolest ones I have found so far.

 5. Mossimo® Women’s Skinny Colored Denim in Fresh White, $27.99. How do I still not own a pair of white jeans? I do not know. But this should be remedied soon.

 6. Sunglass Warehouse Mirrored Retro Style Black Frames with Rainbow Lenses, $13.56. So hip, so trendy and so in my price range. Love it.

 7. Necessary Clothing Zeus Ring in Gold, $11.99. This ring is pretty hard core. It's totally rock n roll, but I think I could pull it off.

 8. Garage Seamless Anchor Boy Short, $7.90. How cute are these anchor print boy shorts?! I can see me rockin these either for bedtime or under a flared dress or skirt to feel a little more covered up.

 9. Forever 21 Dangling Spike Necklace, $10.80. Another edgy piece that I think would be a great accessory to mix with a girly ensemble. I love the unexpected spike hanging from the back.

 10. Charlotte Russe Ankle-Strap Single Sole Pump, $28.50. Yet another extremely versatile item. This pair of shoes could be worn to finish off a sweet and sassy outfit or to add a sexy edge to a tough girl look.

What's in my piggy bank for June?

I have to admit, these aren't my typical boho style picks. In fact, as I look at all of these polished pieces in this month's round up, I am literally asking myself if I really picked them! Maybe my taste has evolved into something girly and "put together"?

Nahhhh. Yall know my fashion sense is bipolar. Stick around. I'm sure I'll be craving the most random collection next month. It's always fun to mix things up a bit!

1. ASOS Full Midi Skirt with Box Pleats in Emerald Green, $64.49. I can't imagine anything more feminine than a full midi skirt. And this shade of green is just gorgeous.

2. Nasty Gal Bright Future Shades in Yellow, $18.00. I'm not sure I need to gush about these sunnies. I feel like they do all the talking for themselves!

3. Necessary Clothing Posy Blouse in Ivory, $14.99. I envision this top being paired with cutoff denim shorts...and anything else really. It's just so pretty and lady-like and versatile.

4. Sinful Colors Snow Me White at Walgreens, $1.99. I'm thinking white hot nails for the summer.

5. Forever 21 Buckled Open Toe Sandals, $19.80. I love how expensive these sandals look, but obviously they aren't pricey at all.

6. Mossimo Black Paisley Pump in Cheetah, $29.99. How is it possible that I still don't own leopard print heels? I have no idea, but I need to fix this problem soon.

7. Zara Leather Effect Shorts, $59.90. I love how these leather shorts don't look trashy, but somehow manage to look classy instead. It totally changes the way you could style them.

8. Ruche Jenna Woven Bag, $65.99. Such a gorgeous shade that can be used as a neutral and worn all year long.

9. Charlotte Russe Metallic Spike Stretch Bracelet, $6.00. I'm still into hard, edgy accessories obviously. But there's something about this bracelet that also gives a sophisticated vibe...at a very cheap price!

10. Forever 21 Essential Floral Pencil Skirt, $17.80. The perfect bright floral print for summer work days (which sounds like an oxmoron, am I right?).

What's in my piggy bank for May?

1. Lulu’s Dot of the Bay Blue Polka Dot Romper, $33.00. I feel like this is a cute take on an old school denim mechanic pin up girl type of romper. Just adorable.

2. Styles for Less Hematite Mirror Lens Aviator Sunglasses, $5.99. I've been wanting to try the mirrored sunglasses trend, but needed something not so quite "out there." I love this aviator version from Styles for Less.

3. Stafford® Wool Felt Safari Hat in Black, $17.00. Can't imagine a better finishing touch for a festival ready outfit. And at this price, I would take the trim off and add my own brown leather braided trim accent instead.

4. River Island Coachella Fringe Beach Kimono, $59.40. Oh the kimono. I've had my eye on these for a while. Love this gorgeous embroidered one with fringe. It's the perfect way to punch up a basic cut offs and tee shirt outfit...plus, can't you just imagine this beauty poolside?!

5. Charlotte Russe Aztec Print Ballet Flat, $22.50. I've been wearing a lot more flats lately—believe it or not. I see me wearing this brightly patterned pair everywhere this summer.

6. Topshop Black Cut out Longline Bikini, $60.00. No idea if a high waisted bathing suit will look good on me or not, but this vintage-inspired bikini with cutouts is just so amazing I'm willing to give it a try!

7. e.l.f. Studio Single Eyeshadow in Wild Wheat, $3.00. Once I get a pretty solid tan, I think I'll try out a copper/bronze smokey eye. This shade seems like it would be a nice base color for that.

 8. jcp™ Slub Sweatshirt in Light Heather Grey, $10.00. Suprisingly enough it's actually been a bit chilly here at night lately—well, for May anyhow. I envision ordering this lightweight sweater in a slouchy size and wearing it boyfriend sweater style.

9. Merona® Women’s Chino Shorts in Vibrant Yellow, $17.99. Nothing says "hello summer" like a bright yellow pair of shorts.

10. Charlotte Russe Scripted “Love” Earring Trio, $6.00. I've had a thing for stud earrings lately. I cannot believe these three styles are offered together in one set...and for so cheap. Gotta snag these soon!

What's in my piggy bank for April?

1. Shabby Apple Fete Des Fleurs Blossom Skirt, $78.00. Love this ballerina inspired tutu skirt! So SJP.
2. Forever 21 Kentucky Bluegrass Boxy Tee, $14.80. I think this would look amazing paired with the ballerina skirt. Just funky and fun.
3. dELiA*s All Over Long Sleeve Lace Dress, $44.50. I adore anything lace right now. I like how this one has a more boho vibe to it than other lace dresses I've seen. (I'd remove the belt though.)
4. Christian Siriano for Payless Julie Mary Jane in Mint, $29.99. Pointy shoes are back and I love this mint green strappy option.
5. ModCloth On the Open Rose Shorts, $42.99. Yes, I'm still obsessed with florals. I need these shorts for spring for sure.
6. Charlotte Russe Mini Chain Strap Evening Bag, $12.99. A lovely lady-like purse that I am picturing perfectly with a flirty dress.
7. Fresh Trends Sapphire Double Sweetheart ($31.64) and Pink Hearts Enamel Square Band ($34.30) Stackable Rings. I've been on a pink and navy kick ever since Ashley's wedding. And I love stackable rings. These heart ones just look so sweet together.
 8. Mossimo Paka Perforated Ankle Boot, $34.99. Confession. I already own these. But they are going to be so amazingly versatile that I wanted to include them in my piggy bank picks anyhow!
9. Necessary Clothing Spiked Bangle in Gold, $12.99. I love this bangle. It's just a little bit edgy, but still dainty and girly.
10. Urban Outfitters Arched Metal Mix Sunglasses, $16.00. How I still don't have any hip high fashion black shades is beyond me. These need to be purchased...pronto!

What's in my piggy bank for March?

I truly can't believe it is pretty much the middle of March already. Life and time have been flying by, so I haven't been able to do a piggy bank pick in quite a while. But I'm happy to say that these posts are definitely back for a monthly appearance!

Since spring and Easter are literally just around the corner, I've currently got my mind on pretty pastels, fun floral prints, neutral accessories and the season's hottest shade of lipstick—orange. And it just wouldn't be right if I didn't include something green for St. Patty's Day, which just happens to be a pair of some pretty stunning earrings.

 1. Necessary Clothing Sea Days Dress, $44.99
2. Urban Outfitters Granger Readers, $14.00
3. Forever 21 Boatneck Striped Top, $9.80
4. ASOS New Look JP Boxy Across Body Bag, $16.94
