The army shirt saga continues

How many times have you guys seen this army shirt on me/the blog? Too many to count I am sure. I wear this piece every which possible. Man, this was a great purchase. Hopefully the army/military trend will continue and I can keep rotating this little beauty into my outfit circulation.

What about you guys? Do you have any piece that is super versatile and that you love so much that you wear it ALL the time in any way possible? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Oh! And also, I should mention that I love this new beanie I bought from Finn Apparel, which is a clothing company started by a fellow climber here in Birmingham. I'm super excited for Michael and his friends and hope to see Finn really take off in the next year or so. You should definitely check out this beanie and their other great pieces here.

The city that never sleeves

You know you're lacking for creativity when you simply use the words on your shirt as the title of a blog post.

But truthfully, I love the saying on this shirt. I love silly puns and I love old school tanks like this one, so really it's the best of both worlds. And I also love that my friend Peach gave it to me for my birthday. Clearly she knows me well! She also gave me these awesome sunglasses, too. I don't rock them as well as she does, but I'm trying.

I don't think there's much else to say except that Laura and I shot this on our lunch break last Friday and it was entirely too much fun for me. I don't get to see her very often these days so it was awesome to catch up one-on-one and it was a blast having her have time to shoot me again.

Ok, on to the cheapskate outfit breakdown:

1. Tank top, gifted (thanks Peach!)
2. Jeans, Rugged Warehouse ($19.99)
3. Heels, Nine West outlet ($29.99)
4. Bag, Charlotte Russe ($9.99)

9. Love ring, gifted (thank Em!)
10. Dainty ring, gifted/passed down

Under the (fashion) influence: Striped skirt

Confession: I'm not entirely sure where this photo came from or who the model is or how to appropriately credit it or the skirt...eek! I'm pretty sure I swiped it from Who What Wear and it is a Joie skirt, but I can't seem to find it online now. My bad!

Anyhow, of course I didn't realize this until after I had set up the photoshoot and got my pics back, so obviously I am still going to use it. What's funny is that all I remember is seeing the skirt and thinking I needed to save the photo because I knew I had something similar.

And until now, I've only ever worn that skirt as a dress. So this was a nice piece of fashion inspiration. Can't let it go to waste!

Ok, cheapskate outfit breakdown:

1. Striped skirt, thrifted ($2.50)
2. Top, Ann Taylor Loft ($19.99)
3. Sandals, Rugged Wearhouse ($9.99)
4. Hobo purse, ATL Market ($30.00)
5. Vintage Ray Bans, gifted/passed down (thanks mom!)
6. Squirrel necklace, gifted (thanks Em!)
7. Earrings, Stella & Dot ($34.00)
8. Love ring, gifted (thanks Em!)

Total: Under $100.00

Pesky hindsight

Oh hindsight. Why you gotta be so 20/20?

Ok, I hate to disappoint. But it's really not as exciting as you're thinking. I'm just simply lamenting that I didn't use the solid gray wall as my background for all of these photos. Those are clearly my best pics and the others seem inconsistent. I just thought I needed to make things exciting by adding in a bit of the city scene and some greenery.

If only I wasn't so much of a chicken and I could actually handle looking at my photos during the shoot. Instead my MO is to just have Leslie snap a ton of pictures and cross my fingers that at least five turn out okay.

Well, maybe this will learn me! (yeah, I said "learn me" - I'm from the south....accept my ridiculous figures of speech. Even if they are grammatically incorrect)

Obviously I have nothing better to tell you guys. So let's just get to the cheapskate outfit breakdown, shall we?

1. Top, Forever 21/gifted (thanks Ashley!)
2. Skirt, Target ($22.99)
3. Wedges, Charlotte Russe ($32.50)
4. Necklace, The Clothes Horse ($10.50)
5. Hat, Rugged Wearhouse ($3.99)

7. Circle ring, Brooklyn Flea ($5.00)

Under the (fashion) influence: Eva Longoria

First I'd like to point out how ridiculous phony I feel when I wear a blazer. I see other girls wear them and they don’t look too "business-y" but I'm just not sure I can pull it off.

I mean, how cute does Eva look in her pic? Maybe it's because I often trend more toward a boho style, but I feel like this just doesn't even look like me. Oh well, mark it down in the fashion books that I tried to step out of my comfort zone. (side note: this seems familiar. I think I might've said something similar the last time I wore this blazer).

Next I'll go ahead and admit my hair is a bit of hot mess...and not in a cute bedhead way. (and again, my hair was a hot mess last time I wore this blazer, too. What is up with that?! Maybe it's just always a hot mess) Like did I even brush it that morning? Um, the answer is (always) no. But the good news is a hair appointment is set for Saturday morning! I mean, that won’t magically fix everything, but it’s at least good start.

Ok now down to business. So obviously I had to use Eva’s outfit as an “inspiration” and tweak a few things here and there. I mean, I don’t have the exact same items and I also needed to make it work appropriate (no shorts allowed in the office for some reason?), but all in all, I think it’s a pretty good interpretation.

Here’s the cheapskate breakdown:

1. Blazer, Banana Republic ($?? - old)
2. Skirt, AZ Well ($7.99)
3. Tank top, gifted/passed down (thanks Aunt Faye!)
4. Heels, Rugged Wearhouse ($9.99)
5. BCBGirls bag, Zoe’s ($30.00)
6. Sunglasses, Forever21 ($5.80)
7. Necklace, gifted (thanks Cathy!)
8. Earrings, Stella & Dot ($34.00)
9. Circle ring, Brooklyn Flea ($5.00)
10. Square ring, Brooklyn Flea ($5.00)
11. Thumb ring, Charlotte Russe ($2.99 – part of stackable set)

Total: Under $150.00

Yeah, as cheesy as this last pic is, I had to put it in. I mean, it's classic newscaster-meets-post-college-interview. It just makes me laugh. You're welcome.
