DIY: Giving old jewelry new life

I bought a can of gold spray paint forever ago with the intention of giving some of my favorite gold costume
jewelry a little "pick me up" to make them look shiny and new. Sadly the paint has been sitting in a closet
since at least June. And I have to admit that this project probably would've been an even longer time coming
if I hadn't been given some old costume jewelry by a coworker and one of the necklaces just couldn't possibly
be worn unless I gave it a new life. So despite the ridiculous wind, I took advantage of a lazy Sunday afternoon
and got down to business to complete a project that has been on my to do list for way too long.

I honestly wasn't sure if this project would turn out well or not. In theory it made sense that if I just spray painted
my jewelry it would look brand new again, but a lot of my ideas are fantastic...in theory. But thankfully
this one turned out to be a huge (and money-saving) success!

So if you have some costume jewelry that you had planned to just throw away or donate, you might want to reconsider. Especially if it's a piece you have a hard time parting with. It took me maybe 15 minutes total and
there are only 3 items needed for the project, most of which you should already have at home:

1. Newspaper (already owned)
2. Tape (already owned)
3. Gold spray paint (Lowes, $5.00ish )

Total cost: $5.00ish

The rest is pretty self explanatory. I put the items on the newspaper and made sure to coat them all generously
and gave them plenty of time to dry. I taped up the part of my cocktail ring that I didn't want to paint, but apparently
I did a terrible job of that. So I took a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover and was able to get the paint off of the
rhinestones. And ta da! The results are ah-mazing....my jewelry looks brand new. It was a cheap and quick fix
and now I still have an entire can of gold spray paint for any fun DIY projects in the future that I might need it for.

I had the same idea and thought I'd research it before I potentially mucked up loads of jewelry. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
